This little beauty is Shelinda :) She’s 4 and lives in Kampala, Uganda. And she’s become my first sponsored child through Compassion International. I’ve had sponsorship on my heart for over a year and a half now, and this weekend, on my 20th birthday, God placed the opportunity in front of me. Part of being a Christ-follower is realizing that what you have isn’t yours. Your car, your clothing, your house, your money: you have it because God spoke it into your life. What better way to show gratitude for the blessings in your life than to be a blessing in another’s life? The sponsorship will give Shelinda, as well as her parents and 6 other siblings, clothing, shelter, nutrition, education, and medical care, an extremely important thing to have being that she lives in an area of Uganda terrorized by AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases. But most importantly, she gets to have the knowledge that she is unconditionally loved by God the Father. And that she is loved by someone on the other side of the world :)
