hope like golden anchors.

i'm kristin hawk, and i am deeply, madly in love with Jesus Christ. His grace and mercy saved me from a number of evils.
His love for us is immeasurable, and it is given to all in endless abundance.
i'm a nanny, a youth worship leader, and a freshman and sophomore girls small group leader.
i'm a pittsburgh, pennsylvania native relocating to san francisco, california to become a rescuer: to work as Christ's soldier to free those enslaved, hurting, and oppressed.
talk to me anytime! i am always excited to meet new people :)

came home to like 5 (anon) questions- thanks for the love!

going to answer them all on here and save some blog space! :)

Q: what is your name? are you a college kid?

A: my name is kristin! full name: kristin elizabeth veronica hawk. lol. i am of college age (20 to be exact!) but as of this moment i am not actually IN college. as of recently (like 2 days or so) i’ve applied to trinity seminary online to take classes to receive a certificate in biblical studies by this winter. then come january i am relocating to san francisco, california, to attend youth with a mission in the city. i’ll be spending 3 months in the bay area, and the last 3 in italy doing outreach. after that? i don’t quite know yet. i am looking into simpson university in redding, ca, but i’m waiting on where God leads me at this point in time. THAT is where i will go, where He leads me to be :)

Q: you seem to be crazy about the outdoors- it’s cute ha! xP do you do anything specific outdoors?

A: haha thanks, anon :p i am SOOO in love with nature! it astounds me the intricacy of our amazing God and just the sheer beauty in the outdoors. as for outdoor activities, i’m an avid hiker. i hike at least once a week, sometimes twice if i can! i also love cliffdiving, canoeing, and camping, and try to do those a couple times a summer. and biking a lot! aaaand i’m going to be going whitewater-rafting and kayaking soon! GAAHH- i love it all! haha!

Q: are you a real redhead?

A: yes. we do exist lol. i lighten my hair every so often so it’s a lighter shade of red, but naturally it is a darker-reddish.

Q: i love your blog! :] how long have you been a christian?

A: thank you, anon!! :) i grew up in a catholic family that gave me a basic understanding of God, but i realized what it meant to be a Christ-follower in eighth grade when my dad took me to my current church, Pittsburgh East Community Church. then i got into some not-so-great things that really fogged my vision of what having Christ in my life meant, and was kinda the “lukewarm christian”, until He quite literally saved my life on new year’s day 2009. that is the day i chose to pursue a relationship with Christ :) so roughly, 3 years and growing more in love every day!

Q: do you have a pinterest?

A: i don’t. i social network enough and need another one like i need a hole in the head lol. plus there’s a point where it just takes up too much time that i could be using for other things, like coffee, and books, and adventures :) plus, pinterest to me is just tumblr with thumbtack icons..

thanks for all the love, guys :) leave ‘em in the inbox if you’d like to know something else lol.

Godbless!!!

so. freaking. funny. lolol!

End Sex Trafficking in Pittsburgh ›

stopexploitation:

Why This Is Important

In the coming weeks the Pittsburgh City Council will vote on whether to regulate sex trafficking out of the massage industry—or not. Women trafficked in massage parlors may be forced to see 6 to 10 clients a day, working 10am to 2am, seven days a week. It is a crime which degrades our common humanity.

In Pittsburgh, there are 15+ massage parlors advertised and reviewed on forums catering to men who buy sex. These are only a tiny number of the 5000+ brothels which appear to sell sex in the United States, and are at a high risk of involving sex trafficking. However, there is no acceptable number of slaves in any American city, so even these few must leave.

The massage parlor regulation ordinance, Bill No. 2011 - 1635, builds upon the strong work of Pennsylvania Massage Therapists’ state licensure law and teases apart legitimate from illegitimate massage establishments. The ordinance includes requirements that windows be unbarred, massage-room doors unlocked, and establishments properly advertised. If it passes in tact, Pittsburgh will be the first city in the United States to comprehensively approach ending sex trafficking in massage parlors. If it does not, women will continue to be enslaved. Please help us encourage the Pittsburgh city council to vote YES on this bill.

If you are interested in ending sex trafficking in your neighborhood using a similar bill, please contact Jessica Dickinson Goodman (jdickins [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu) or Jaime Turek (jevanoski [at] endhumantrafficking [dot] org).

my senior year in high school, a massage parlor selling sex with trafficked girls was shut down at a mall in pittsburgh near my home, the same mall where I WORKED 4 STORES DOWN!

that sickens me to the core!

and it’s still very present in my hometown. VERY present. we need to be relentless, we need to END THIS NOW!!

#nature  #love

The boys I nanny for were on the computer playing Minecraft while I read a little from my bible. I left to get a drink and came back to find my bible had been autographed.

The book of Acts is now the book of Ethan.
